हस्त्यश्वरथपत्तीनां व्रातान् निध्नन्तमर्जुनम् | सुदक्षिणादवरज: शरवृष्टया भ्यवीवृषत्,तब हाथी, घोड़े, रथ और पैदलोंके समूहोंका संहार करनेवाले अर्जुनपर काम्बोजराज सुदक्षिणका छोटा भाई अपने बाणोंकी वर्षा करने लगा
hasty-aśva-ratha-pattīnāṁ vrātān nidhnantam arjunam | sudakṣiṇād avarajaḥ śara-vṛṣṭyābhyavīvṛṣat ||
হাতী, ঘোঁৰা, ৰথ আৰু পদাতিকৰ ঘনবদ্ধ দলসমূহ ধ্বংস কৰি থকা অৰ্জুনৰ ওপৰত কাম্বোজৰাজ সুদক্ষিণৰ কনিষ্ঠ ভ্ৰাতাই নিৰন্তৰ শৰবৃষ্টি বৰষিবলৈ ধৰিলে।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya-world logic of the battlefield: overwhelming force is met by immediate counterforce. Ethically, it reflects the Mahābhārata’s recurring tension between necessary martial duty and the escalating cycle of violence that war unleashes.
Arjuna is actively destroying large formations—elephants, cavalry, chariots, and infantry. In response, Sudakṣiṇa of Kāmboja’s younger brother launches a concentrated counterattack by showering Arjuna with arrows.
