The Crow-and-Swan Exemplum as Counsel to Karṇa
समेत्य च महावीरीौ संरब्धौ युद्धदुर्मदौ । ववर्षतुर्महेष्वासौ शरैरन्योन्यमाहवे
sametya ca mahāvīrau saṃrabdhau yuddha-durmadau | vavarṣatur mahēṣvāsau śarair anyonyam āhave ||
এইদৰে সেই দুজন মহাধনুৰ্ধৰ মহাবীৰ, ক্ৰোধে উদ্দীপ্ত আৰু যুদ্ধোন্মত্ত হৈ মুখামুখি আহিল। ৰণক্ষেত্ৰত ভিড়ি তেওঁলোকে পৰস্পৰৰ ওপৰত শৰবৃষ্টি কৰিবলৈ ধৰিলে।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how anger and the intoxication of combat can override restraint and even familial bonds, illustrating the ethical tragedy of war: once wrath takes command, mutual harm becomes inevitable.
Sañjaya describes two mighty warriors meeting directly on the battlefield and, in a rage, engaging one another by raining volleys of arrows in close combat.
