Sātyaki’s resolve and departure to reach Arjuna
iti śrīmahābhārate droṇaparvaṇi jayadrathavadhaparvaṇi dhṛtarāṣṭravākye pañcāśītitamo 'dhyāyaḥ
As a colophon, the line does not teach through direct instruction; instead it frames the ethical gravity of the narrative by formally situating the episode (Jayadratha’s slaying) within the war-book (Droṇa Parvan) and under Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s discourse—reminding the reader that actions in war are recorded, judged, and remembered within a dharmic-historical continuum.
This is the chapter-ending marker: it announces that the eighty-fifth chapter has concluded, within the Droṇa Parvan’s Jayadratha-slaying section, and that the surrounding narration is cast as Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s words (typically in dialogue with Sañjaya).
