Even amid the violence and uncertainty of war, the text foregrounds bhakti and śaraṇāgati: turning to the Lord described as radiant and protective, trusting in divine compassion (anukampā) for the fulfillment of what is rightly sought.
Sañjaya utters a reverential invocation—praising the Lord as golden-hued and armored—seeking successful fulfillment of a boon or desired outcome, functioning as a protective, devotional interjection within the Drona Parva war narration.
