Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the rapid escalation of warfare: outward symbols of power (banners, mighty elephants) quickly become instruments of terror. Ethically, it invites reflection on how displays of strength and pride can precipitate immediate and devastating violence.

Sañjaya describes a sudden, fierce clash between banner-bearing elephants and the enemy’s powerful elephants, emphasizing the immediacy and chaos of the engagement in the Drona Parva battle sequence.
