द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय १६२: प्रातःसंध्यायां युद्धप्रवृत्तिः तथा रजोमेघे संमूढता
दृष्टवा विनिहतान् संख्ये पज्चालान् सोमकै: सह । “सोमकोंसहित पांचालोंको युद्धमें मारा गया देख आज धर्मपुत्र राजा युधिष्ठिरके मनमें बड़ा निर्वेद (खेद एवं वैराग्य) होगा
dṛṣṭvā vinihatān saṅkhye pāñcālān somakaiḥ saha |
সঞ্জয়ে ক’লে—ৰণক্ষেত্ৰত সোমকসকলৰ সৈতে পাঞ্চালসকল নিহত হোৱা দেখি, ধৰ্মপুত্ৰ ৰজা যুধিষ্ঠিৰ আজি গভীৰ নিৰ্বেদ আৰু বৈৰাগ্যত আচ্ছন্ন হ’ব।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical aftermath of violence: even when war is pursued as duty, the sight of mass death can awaken profound remorse and detachment, especially in a ruler committed to dharma like Yudhiṣṭhira.
