As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it frames the ethical landscape of the episode: in war, decisive action taken for a vowed objective (the campaign culminating in Jayadratha’s death) demands steadfast loyalty and strategic resolve, while reminding the listener that each violent success is embedded in a larger chain of consequences.
This is the closing colophon of a chapter in the Droṇa Parva. It identifies the chapter’s placement within the Jayadratha-slaying narrative arc and names its immediate focus: Sātyaki’s forceful entry into the battle and the defeat of the Yavana contingent.
