The verse emphasizes satya (truthfulness) as fidelity to one’s spoken commitment: a warrior’s word should not be empty, and ethical integrity is measured by keeping one’s pledge even under the pressure of battle.
Sañjaya reports a fierce resolve expressed in the war context—slaying those who come to fight—then urges Kaunteya (Arjuna) to act accordingly and ensure his declared word proves true, reinforcing the seriousness of vows and declarations on the battlefield.
