Educational Q&A

The verse highlights disciplined dharma in a renunciant setting: even while moving toward withdrawal from worldly life, one maintains purity through prescribed rites, self-restraint (fasting), and purposeful orientation (northward), suggesting inner resolve guided by tradition.

After the night ends, the group completes morning rituals and offers oblations into the fire. Having fasted overnight, they then proceed onward in an orderly manner, facing and looking toward the northern direction as they travel.
