Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Instruction on Rājadharma and Bala
भीमश्च सर्वदुःखानि संस्मृत्य बहुलान्युत । कृच्छादिव महाबाहुरनुजज्ञे विनि:श्वसन्,“परंतु महाबाहु भीमसेनने पहलेके समस्त क्लेशोंका, जिनकी संख्या अधिक है, स्मरण करके लंबी साँस खींचते हुए बड़ी कठिनाईसे धन देनेकी अनुमति दी है
bhīmaś ca sarvaduḥkhāni saṃsmṛtya bahulāny uta | kṛcchrād iva mahābāhur anujajñe viniḥśvasan ||
বৈশম্পায়নে ক’লে—মহাবাহু ভীমসেনে অতীতৰ বহু দুখ স্মৰণ কৰি দীঘল নিশ্বাস এৰি, যেন অতি কষ্টে ধন দানৰ অনুমতি দিলে।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when weighed down by remembered suffering, one may still uphold dharma—here expressed as consenting to rightful giving (dāna). The verse highlights moral resolve that persists despite grief and inner resistance.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Bhīma, after recalling numerous past hardships, sighs deeply and—only with difficulty—agrees to the proposed act of giving wealth, indicating emotional strain in the post-conflict setting.
