छत्रोपानहदानफलप्रशंसा — Praise of the Merit of Donating Umbrella and Footwear
एतस्मात् कारणाद् ब्रह्मंश्चवितयैतत् कृतं मया । एतच्छुत्वा मम विभो मा क्रुधस्त्वं तपोधन
etasmāt kāraṇād brahmanś cāvitayaitat kṛtaṃ mayā | etac chrutvā mama vibho mā krudhas tvaṃ tapodhana brahma ||
“ব্ৰাহ্মণ! এই কাৰণতেই মই আপোনাৰ কাৰ্য কিছু বিলম্বে সম্পন্ন কৰিলোঁ। তপোধন প্ৰভু! মোৰ কথা শুনি আপুনি ক্ৰোধ নকৰিব।”
भीष्म उवाच
Even when one has acted with a justifying reason, one should speak with humility and seek to prevent anger—especially in dealings with the learned and ascetic—upholding restraint and respectful conduct as part of dharma.
Bhishma explains to a Brahmin ascetic that he completed the requested task only after some delay due to a particular reason, and he asks the ascetic not to become angry upon hearing this explanation.
