This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it situates the preceding instruction within the Mahābhārata’s ethical framework, identifying it as part of Bhīṣma’s teachings on dāna-dharma (the duty of giving) and śrāddha-kalpa (proper ancestral rites). The implied emphasis is that charity and ritual responsibility are integral components of dharma.
The chapter concludes. The text formally marks the end of the ninety-second adhyāya within the Anuśāsana Parva’s dāna-dharma section, specifically the portion dealing with śrāddha procedures.
