इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत अनुशासनपर्वके अन्तर्गत दानधर्मपर्वमें श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणोंकी प्रशंशाविषयक आठवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

Transliteration

anenaivodāharantīmam itihāsaṁ purātanam | śṛgālasya ca saṁvādaṁ vānarasya ca bhārata || bhārata! asmin viṣaye vijñāḥ puruṣāḥ śṛgāla-vānara-saṁvāda-rūpaṁ prācīnam itihāsam udāharanti |

Translation

ভীষ্ম ক’লে— হে ভাৰত! এই বিষয়ত পণ্ডিতসকলে এক প্ৰাচীন ইতিহাসৰ দৃষ্টান্ত আনে— শৃগাল আৰু বানৰৰ সংলাপ। এই কথাৰ ব্যাখ্যা কৰিবলৈ তেওঁলোকে সেই পুৰণি কাহিনীটো তেওঁলোকৰ কথোপকথনৰ ৰূপত বৰ্ণনা কৰে।
