एतत् सर्वमशेषेण पितामह यथातथम् | वेत्तुमिच्छामि धर्मज्ञ परं कौतूहलं हि मे
etat sarvam aśeṣeṇa pitāmaha yathātatham | vettum icchāmi dharmajña paraṁ kautūhalaṁ hi me ||
যুধিষ্ঠিৰে ক’লে—পিতামহ, এই সকলো কথা একো নাছাড়ি, যথাতথ্যভাৱে, যি সত্য তেনেকৈয়ে মই সম্পূৰ্ণকৈ জানিব বিচাৰোঁ। হে ধৰ্মজ্ঞ, মোৰ কৌতূহল অতি গভীৰ; সেয়ে পূৰ্ণ আৰু নিৰ্ভুল বিৱৰণ দিয়া।
युधिछ्िर उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic method of learning: sincere inquiry, respect for an authoritative elder-teacher, and the insistence on knowing matters “yathātatham” (as they truly are), not partially or by hearsay.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instructional setting, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Bhīṣma as Pitāmaha and requests a complete, accurate explanation of the topic under discussion, motivated by strong curiosity and a desire to grasp dharma thoroughly.
