Daiva–Puruṣakāra Inquiry: Fate and Human Effort
पुरूरवाश्च राजर्षिद्विजैरभिहित: पुरा । ऐल इत्यभिविख्यात: स्वर्ग प्राप्तो महीपति:,इसी तरह पूर्वकालमें ऐल नामसे विख्यात राजर्षि पुरूरवा ब्राह्मणोंके आशीर्वाद देनेपर स्वर्गलोकको प्राप्त हुए थे
purūravāś ca rājarṣir dvijair abhihitaḥ purā | aila ity abhivikhyātaḥ svargaṃ prāpto mahīpatiḥ ||
এইদৰে পূৰ্বকালত ‘ঐল’ নামে খ্যাত ৰাজর্ষি পুৰূৰৱা, দ্বিজসকল (ব্ৰাহ্মণসকল)ৰ প্ৰশংসা আৰু আশীৰ্বাদ লাভ কৰি, পৃথিৱীৰ অধিপতি হৈও স্বৰ্গলোক প্ৰাপ্ত হৈছিল।
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights that a ruler’s righteous standing is strengthened by honoring and gaining the approval/blessings of Brahmins and the learned; such dharmic endorsement is presented as a cause leading to heavenly attainment.
Bhishma cites an ancient precedent: the royal sage Purūravas, famous as Aila, is said to have reached Svarga because he was commended and blessed by Brahmins—an illustrative example within Bhishma’s instruction on conduct and merit.
