This line functions as a colophon, signaling the completion of a chapter within the Dāna-dharma teachings. Its ethical frame highlights that the surrounding material is meant to instruct on dāna—right giving as a component of dharma—using the Bhajāsvana episode as an illustrative narrative.
The narrative action pauses: the text formally closes the twelfth chapter of the Bhajāsvana episode within the Anuśāsana Parva’s Dāna-dharma section, in the context of Bhīṣma’s ongoing instruction.
