वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharma of a king: sustaining sacred rites and honoring the gods for the welfare and order of the realm. Royal authority is shown as inseparable from responsibility for ritual and communal religious life.
After a year has elapsed, King Vasu arranges for an object (contextually a staff/pole) to be set into the ground as part of worship offered to Śakra (Indra).
