Mandapāla’s Lament amid the Threat of Fire
kṣiptaṃ kṣiptaṃ raṇe caitat tvayā mādhava śaśatruṣu | hatvāpratihataṃ saṅkhye pāṇim eṣyati te punaḥ ||
The verse highlights the idea of an unfailing, divinely empowered weapon: when wielded by Mādhava, it accomplishes its purpose without being checked and returns to its rightful master—suggesting assured protection and decisive force when aligned with a higher power.
Vaiśampāyana describes a remarkable weapon associated with Mādhava: each time it is thrown in battle at enemies, it kills them, cannot be countered in the fight, and then comes back into Mādhava’s hand.
