राम उवाच
The verse implies that rightful sovereignty is not merely seized by force: it is to be pursued through kṣatriya-dharma (regulated valor), consolidated through socially sanctioned alliance (marriage), and stabilized by the presence of wise counsel (Vidura), culminating in legitimate attainment of rule.
It functions as a compact summary of successive events: a victory achieved according to warrior duty, the ensuing marriage-related proceedings, the arrival of Vidura, and then the acquisition of the kingdom—presented as a sequence of notable milestones in the unfolding account.
