Aftermath of the Lac House Fire
aṅgarājyaṃ ca nārhastvam upabhoktuṃ narādhama | yathā hutāśa-samīpasthaṃ puroḍāśam ivādhvare ||
Legitimate enjoyment of power (rājya-upabhoga) is tied to worthiness and dharma; one who is morally unfit is compared to a dog barred from sacred offerings, emphasizing that certain privileges are reserved for the qualified.
The narration presents a harsh denunciation: the addressed person is declared unfit to enjoy the kingdom of Aṅga, using a Vedic ritual image—an oblation near the fire that an impure claimant cannot access—to underline exclusion from rightful kingship.
