वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores that true authority and excellence are grounded in dharma: a hero’s identity is framed by rightful lineage, divine endowment, and the ethical obligation to protect the community (rakṣaṇa) as a central kṣatriya duty.
Vaiśaṃpāyana is pointing out and introducing Arjuna, identifying him through his mother Kuntī, his position among the Pāṇḍavas as the middle brother, and his divine paternity from Indra, thereby highlighting his stature as a guardian of the Kuru people.
