Prelude to Katyayani-Mahishasura
etāni te mayoktāni vratānyuktāni kāmibhiḥ prakṣyāmyadhunā tvetadvaiṣṇavaṃ pañjaraṃ śubham

Ritual discipline (vrata) is paired with surrender and remembrance of the deity; protection is framed as arising from devotion and prescribed practice rather than mere worldly strategy.
This passage is primarily Dharma/Ācāra material (vrata-vidhi) rather than the core pañcalakṣaṇa topics; it sits adjacent to purāṇic instruction that supports right conduct.
“Pañjara” symbolizes a sacral boundary: the devotee is ‘enclosed’ by Viṣṇu’s presence and power, anticipating the directional guarding that follows in subsequent verses.
