Umāyāḥ Kriyāyoga-Rahasya
The Esoteric Teaching on Umā’s Kriyāyoga
ये व्रजन्तः स्वपन्तश्च तिष्ठन्तो वाप्यहर्निशम् । उमेति द्व्यक्षरं नाम ब्रुवते ते शिवागणाः
ye vrajantaḥ svapantaśca tiṣṭhanto vāpyaharniśam | umeti dvyakṣaraṃ nāma bruvate te śivāgaṇāḥ
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Establishes constant nāma-smaraṇa of Umā as a direct marker of belonging to Śiva’s gaṇas—i.e., proximity to Śiva through devotion to Śakti.
Mantra: उमेति
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: liberating
It teaches uninterrupted nāma-smaraṇa (remembrance through the Name): constant utterance of “Umā” aligns the devotee with Śiva-Śakti, purifies the bound soul (paśu), and makes one fit for Śiva’s grace—symbolically described as becoming a member of Śiva’s gaṇas.
In Saguna worship, the Linga represents Śiva as the accessible Lord (Pati). Chanting “Umā” invokes Śiva’s inseparable Śakti, emphasizing Umā-Maheśvara unity; thus the devotee’s Linga worship becomes relational and grace-centered rather than merely ritual.
Practice steady japa of the name “Umā” throughout daily activities (walking, resting, working), ideally alongside Shaiva disciplines such as Tripuṇḍra (bhasma), Rudrākṣa, and regular Linga-pūjā—especially intensified during Mahāśivarātri.
