samālokya stutiṃ cakre premagadgayā girā | yogīnāmapyagamyantaṃ dīnabandhuṃ cidātmakam
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It presents Shiva as Pati—the supreme Consciousness (cid-ātman) who is transcendent even to yogic attainment, yet becomes intimately accessible through loving devotion and compassionately protects the distressed (dīna-bandhu).
Though Shiva’s highest reality is beyond mind and yogic grasp, the devotee approaches Him through stuti and reverent worship—typical of Saguna practice such as Linga-puja—by which the transcendent Lord is experienced as gracious and near.
Heartfelt stotra-japa and remembrance of Shiva’s compassionate nature; as a practical takeaway, chant the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with bhakti while meditating on Shiva as cid-ātman.
