The Glory of the Purāṇa-Knower and the Fruits of Study, Teaching, and Giving
pāpaṃ saṃkṣīyate nityaṃ dharmmaścaiva vivarddhate | purāṇaśravaṇājjñānī na saṃsāraṃ prapadyate

It teaches that śravaṇa (devotional hearing) of the Purāṇa purifies pāpa, strengthens dharma, and matures jñāna-bhakti so the seeker becomes fit for Shiva’s grace and freedom from saṁsāra.
Hearing the Purāṇa nourishes devotion to Saguna Shiva—often approached through Linga-upāsanā—so that worship becomes steady, purified, and oriented toward liberation rather than mere worldly gain.
Regular Shiva Purana śravaṇa (listening/recitation) as a sādhana—ideally alongside daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Shiva worship—so dharma grows and impurities decline.
