एकादशरुद्रावतारकथनम् / Account of the Eleven Rudra Manifestations
Rudrāvatāras
भूत्वा मम सुतो नाथ देवा यक्षाः पराजिताः । दैत्यैर्महाबलैश्शम्भो सुरानन्दप्रदो भव
bhūtvā mama suto nātha devā yakṣāḥ parājitāḥ | daityairmahābalaiśśambho surānandaprado bhava
Brahmā (petitioning Lord Śiva to incarnate)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Sthala Purana: General purāṇic motif: Brahmā petitions Śiva to manifest for restoring deva-order when devas/yakṣas are oppressed by daityas; Śiva’s descent is framed as protective intervention rather than karmic compulsion.
Type: stotra
It shows Śiva’s compassion: though transcendent (Pati), He willingly assumes a manifest, personal form for the protection of dharma and the relief of suffering beings.
The verse emphasizes Saguna grace—Śiva responding to prayer and taking form—while Linga-worship preserves the truth that the same Śambhu remains the formless Supreme even when He incarnates.
A direct takeaway is earnest śaraṇāgati (refuge) through japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” praying to Śambhu to remove defeat, fear, and inner asuric tendencies.
