Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Śravaṇa (devout listening) to Śiva-kathā is affirmed as a direct upāya: it yields iṣṭa-siddhi (desired aims) and functions as purificatory merit leading toward Śiva’s grace.
Type: stotra
It praises śravaṇa (devotional listening) as a direct means to gain both worldly aims and spiritual uplift, affirming that sincere receptivity to Shiva-kathā bears fruit without doubt.
Listening to the Purāṇic account is treated as a form of Saguna-Shiva bhakti—approaching Shiva through His names, deeds, and sacred narrative—supporting Linga-worship by strengthening faith and devotion.
Regular śravaṇa: hearing Shiva Purana recitation with a śubha-vrata (disciplined conduct), ideally alongside simple worship such as japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and respectful observances on Shiva days.
