It teaches that approach to Shiva begins with mantra-purified water and inner cleanliness, followed by loosening attachment to externals (like clothing and possessions), aligning the seeker toward disciplined Shaiva purity.
The verse frames preparation for Saguna Shiva worship as a consecrated, rule-based rite: water is empowered by mantra and taken as ācamana, making the devotee fit to approach Shiva’s sacred presence (such as the Linga) with purity and restraint.
Mantra-abhimantrana of water three times, followed by sipping (ācamana), and then setting aside garments/possessions as part of ritual discipline—supporting a focused, renunciatory mindset before Shaiva worship.
