paṭhyamānaiḥ pṛthivyādipuruṣāṃtaṃ kramānmune | sājyena caruṇā maunī śivapādāmbujaṃ smaran

It teaches that liberation-oriented worship is both ritual and inward: disciplined recitation through the cosmic principles (tattvas) is joined with silence and steady remembrance of Śiva’s lotus-feet, pointing the bound soul (paśu) toward the Lord (Pati) beyond bondage (pāśa).
The external act—offering caru with ghee during recitation—supports Saguna worship (formal pūjā), while the inner act—remembering Śiva’s lotus-feet—draws the mind into concentrated devotion that culminates in direct orientation to Śiva as the supreme reality worshipped in the Liṅga.
Perform ordered mantra/recitation, offer ghee-mixed caru as oblation, maintain mauna (silence), and practice dhyāna by continuously remembering Śiva’s lotus-feet—ideally alongside japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) if prescribed in the surrounding context.
