Vali’s Pursuit of Mayavi and the Cave Episode
स तु निर्धूय ताः सर्वा निर्जगाम महाबलः।ततोऽहमपि सौहार्दान्निस्सृतो वालिना सह4.9.8।।
sa tu nirdhūya tāḥ sarvā nirjagāma mahābalaḥ | tato 'ham api sauhārdān nissṛto vālinā saha || 4.9.8 ||
فدفعهنّ جميعًا جانبًا وخرج وهو عظيم القوة؛ ثم خرجتُ أنا أيضًا، بدافع المودّة الأخوية، مع فالي.
'One midnight when all were asleep, he (Mayabi) came to the entrance of Kishkinda screaming angrily and bellowing at Vali, challenging him to a duel.
Family duty and solidarity: even amid danger, Sugrīva follows his elder brother out of loyalty, reflecting a dharmic impulse to support kin.
Vālī disregards restraining voices and goes out; Sugrīva accompanies him out of affection.
Brotherly loyalty and courage to stand with one’s kin.
