Sampati’s Intelligence Report on Sita’s Abduction
श्रूयतामिह वैदेह्या यथा मे हरणं श्रुतम्।येन चापि ममाऽख्यातं यत्र वायतलोचना।।।।
śrūyatām iha vaidehyā yathā me haraṇaṃ śrutam |
yena cāpi mamākhyātaṃ yatra vāyatalocanā ||
اسمعوا الآن كيف بلغني خبرُ اختطافِ فايدِهي: من الذي أخبرني، وأين تكون تلك السيدةُ ذاتُ العينين الطويلتين.
'Now hear by whom I was informed about the abduction of the large-eyed princess from Videha and where she is at present.
Satya as dharma: truthful reporting of what one has heard/learned is a moral duty when it aids a righteous rescue and corrects injustice.
