Time-Limit Crisis and Counsel
अप्रवृत्तौ च सीतायाः पापमेव करिष्यति।तस्मात् क्षममिहाद्यैव गन्तुं प्रायोपवेशनम् हि नः।।4.53.28।।त्यक्त्वा पुत्रांश्च दारांश्च धनानि च गृहाणि च।
apravṛttau ca sītāyāḥ pāpam eva kariṣyati | tasmāt kṣamam ihādyaiva gantuṃ prāyopaveśanam hi naḥ || tyaktvā putrāṃś ca dārāṃś ca dhanāni ca gṛhāṇi ca |
وإن لم يتحقق تقدّمٌ في شأن سِيتا فلن يصنع إلا إثمًا (إذ يعاقبنا بغير حق). لذلك يليق بنا، هنا واليوم نفسه، أن نمضي إلى برَايُوبَفِيشَنَا (prāyopaveśana)، متخلّين عن الأبناء والزوجات والأموال والبيوت.
Dharma is twofold: agents must accept responsibility for failure, and a ruler should avoid adharma (sin) through disproportionate punishment—hence Angada’s drastic proposal of self-expiation.
With no clue about Sītā and the deadline over, Angada argues for fasting unto death, urging the group to renounce worldly ties immediately.
