Vali’s Funeral Rites and the Consolation of the Bereaved
तादृशं वालिनः क्षिप्रं प्राकुर्वन्नौर्ध्वदैहिकम्।अङ्गदं परिगृह्याऽशु तारप्रभृतयस्तदा4.25.32।।क्रोशन्तः प्रययुस्सर्वे वानरा हतबान्धवाः।
tādṛśaṁ vālinaḥ kṣipraṁ prākurvann aurdhvadehikam |
aṅgadaṁ parigṛhyāśu tārāprabhṛtayaḥ tadā || 4.25.32 ||
krośantaḥ prayayus sarve vānarā hatabāndhavāḥ |
وهكذا، على الوجه اللائق، شُرِعَ سريعًا في إقامة الطقوس الجنائزية لفالي. ثم إنّ تارا ومن معها، وقد أسرعوا فاحتضنوا أنغَدَة وأخذوه معهم، مضى جميع القِرَدَة—وقد فُجِعوا بقريبهم—وهم يصرخون صراخًا عاليًا.
Tara, Angada and the other bereaved monkeys hastened to perform the funeralceremony of Vali-weeping.
Dharma balances grief with obligation: even in bereavement, the community must complete necessary rites and support the heir (Aṅgada).
Vāli’s obsequies begin promptly; Tārā and others escort Aṅgada as the mourning vānara host proceeds, wailing.
Familial responsibility and collective solidarity—protecting the prince while fulfilling duties for the deceased.
