Rama’s Justification to Vali on Rājadharma
yathā tvayy aṅgado nityaṃ vartate vānarēśvara |
tathā varteta sugrīve mayi cāpi na saṃśayaḥ ||
'O lord of monkeys! Angada will remain with Sugriva and with me as he used to live with you. Rest assured.'
Protective duty after conflict: dharma includes safeguarding dependents (like Aṅgada) and ensuring continuity and stability after a rightful but painful outcome.
Rāma reassures Vāli about his son Aṅgada’s future allegiance and protection under Sugrīva and under Rāma’s own guardianship.
Responsibility and guardianship—Rāma extends care to the fallen enemy’s child, emphasizing stability and welfare.
