Tara’s Counsel to Vali on Sugriva’s Roar and Rama’s Alliance
prasīda pathyaṃ śṛṇu jalpitaṃ hi me
na roṣam evānuvidhātum arhasi |
kṣamo hi te kosala-rāja-sūnunā
na vigrahaḥ śakra-samāna-tejasā ||
'Do not lose your temper. Quieten your mind. My advice is beneficial to you. You should not fight with the prince of Kosala who is comparable to Indra in splendour.It is not proper for you.'
Dharma requires mastery over anger and avoidance of unjust or ruinous conflict, especially against a righteous and formidable person.
Tārā attempts to restrain Vālī from acting rashly and warns him not to oppose Rāma.
Temperance and wise restraint—choosing counsel over impulse.
