दुन्दुभिवधप्रसङ्गः
The Dundubhi Episode and the Proof of Rama’s Prowess
महर्षिस्तमनादृत्य प्रविवेशाश्रमं तदा।शापधारणभीतस्तु वाली विह्वलतां गतः4.11.63।।
maharṣis tam anādṛtya praviveśāśramaṃ tadā | śāpadhāraṇabhītas tu vālī vihvalatāṃ gataḥ || 4.11.63 ||
غير أنّ الحكيم العظيم لم يلتفت إليه، ودخل حينئذٍ إلى صومعته. أمّا فالي، فارتعد خوفًا من حمل اللعنة، ووقع في اضطرابٍ وكرب.
'The sage went into the hermitage without obliging Vali who became apprehensive of the curse of the sage.
Dharma includes the inevitability of moral consequence: even a powerful figure cannot compel a sage to retract a truth-bound judgment.
Vali seeks the sage, but the sage refuses to engage and withdraws into the hermitage; Vali becomes anxious about the curse.
On the sage’s side: steadfast impartiality; on Vali’s side: the awakening of fear that follows when one recognizes an unalterable moral penalty.
