न मे तथा पार्थिव धीयते मनोमहत्सु कामेषु न चात्मनःप्रिये।यथा निदेशे तव शिष्टसम्मतेव्यपैतु दुःखं तव मत्कृतेऽनघ।।।।
na me tathā pārthiva dhīyate mano mahatsu kāmeṣu na cātmanoḥ priye | yathā nideśe tava śiṣṭasammate vyapaitu duḥkhaṃ tava matkṛte 'nagha ||
أيها الملك، إن قلبي لا يجد الرضا في عظيم اللذات ولا فيما هو محبوب للنفس، كما يجده في تنفيذ أمرك الذي أقرّه الحكماء. فلتزُل أحزانك بسببي، أيها الطاهر من العيب.
O king! my mind derives no happiness from great enjoyment or personal comfort as it does from carrying out your order. This is corroborated by the wise. Your grief (relating to filfilment of the vow) on mt account will be dispelled, O sinless one!
True fulfillment lies in dharmic obedience rather than pleasure; wise tradition validates duty as the highest good.
