जटायुरावणयुद्धम्
Jatayu’s Combat with Ravana
तं प्रहृष्टं निधायाङ्के गच्छन्तं जनकात्मजाम्।गृध्रराजस्समुत्पत्य समभिद्रुत्य रावणम्।।।।समावार्य महातेजा जटायुरिदमब्रवीत्।
taṁ prahṛṣṭaṁ nidhāyāṅke gacchantaṁ janakātmajām | gṛdhrarājas samutpatya samabhidrutya rāvaṇam || samāvārya mahātejā jaṭāyur idam abravīt |
وبينما كان يمضي مسرورًا وقد وضع ابنةَ جانَكا على حجره، نهض ملكُ النسور المتلألئ جاتايو فجأةً، فانقضّ على رافانا وطاردَه وسدّ عليه الطريق، ثم قال هذه الكلمات.
Seeing Sita, Janaka's daughter, happily carried away into the sky by Ravana on his lap. Jatayu, the mighty king of vultures chased him, and obstructing his path said :
Dharma includes moral intervention: one must not only fight injustice but also warn and restrain the wrongdoer.
Rāvaṇa resumes flight with Sītā; Jatāyu pursues, blocks him, and begins to address him.
Moral courage—the readiness to confront and correct wrongdoing.
