पञ्चवटी-निवासः
Settlement at Pañcavaṭī and Construction of the Hermitage
इदं पुण्यमिदं मेध्यमिदं बहुमृगद्विजम्।इह वत्स्याम सौमित्रे सार्धमेतेन पक्षिणा।।।।
idaṃ puṇyam idaṃ medhyam idaṃ bahumṛgadvijam | iha vatsyāma saumitre sārdham etena pakṣiṇā ||
هذا الموضع مقدّس، وهذا الموضع صالحٌ للشعائر، وهو وافرٌ بالحيوان والطير. هنا، يا ساوميترا، سنقيم—مع هذا الطائر (جَطايُو).
O handsome one, following the directions of the great sage, we have arrived at Panchavati, a place full of blossoming trees.
Dharma is choosing a dwelling aligned with purity and right conduct, and accepting righteous companionship—Jaṭāyu’s presence signals protection and moral alliance.
Having assessed the region, Rāma decides to settle there and states they will live there with Jaṭāyu.
Judiciousness and commitment to sacred living—Rāma prioritizes a place suitable for ritual purity and peaceful life.
