The Greatness of the Ancestors: Ekoddiṣṭa Śrāddha, Āśauca Rules, and Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa

शूद्रेषु मासमाशौचं सपिंडेषु विधीयते । नैशमाचूडमाशौचं त्रिरात्रं परतः स्मृतम्

śūdreṣu māsamāśaucaṃ sapiṃḍeṣu vidhīyate | naiśamācūḍamāśaucaṃ trirātraṃ parataḥ smṛtam

بالنسبة للشودرا يُشرَع أَشَوْتْشا (آشَوْتْشا) لمدة شهر إذا وقع موتٌ بين أقارب السابِنْدا. أمّا من كان خارج تلك الدائرة فتُذكَر النجاسة لثلاث ليالٍ؛ وإذا حدثت الوفاة ليلًا فتمتدّ حتى يُحلَّ عُقدة الشعر (أي حتى ينقضي الليل).
