The Greatness of the Jayantī Vow
Fast, Vigil, and Worship of Hari/Kṛṣṇa
smaraṇātkīrtanātpāpaṃ saptajanmārjitaṃ mune | jayaṃtī dahate tacca kiṃ punaḥ sopavāsakṛt
Unspecified (narrator addressing a sage: 'mune')
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The verse emphasizes smaraṇa (remembrance) and kīrtana (recitation/chanting) as potent means for destroying accumulated sin.
Fasting is presented as an intensifier: if Jayantī removes sin through remembrance and recitation alone, observing it with upavāsa is implied to yield even greater purification.
It teaches that sincere devotional remembrance and recitation have transformative power, and disciplined observance (like fasting) can deepen spiritual efficacy.
