अगस्त्यस्य वित्तयाचनं तथा इल्वलोपभिक्षणनिर्णयः

Agastya’s request for wealth and the decision to seek resources from Ilvala

स चाह्दयति यं वाचा गतं वैवस्वतक्षयम्‌ | स पुनर्देहमास्थाय जीवन्‌ सम प्रत्यदृश्यत,इल्वलमें यह शक्ति थी कि वह जिस किसी भी यमलोकमें गये हुए प्राणीको उसका नाम लेकर बुलाता वह पुन: शरीर धारण करके जीवित दिखायी देने लगता था

sa cāhvayati yaṁ vācā gataṁ vaivasvatakṣayam | sa punar deham āsthāya jīvan sampratyadṛśyata |

كانت له قدرةٌ على استدعاء أيّ كائنٍ مضى إلى دار فَيْفَسْوَتَ (ياما)، وذلك بمجرد التلفّظ باسمه. فيعود ذلك الشخص فيتّخذ جسدًا من جديد ويُرى مرةً أخرى كأنه حيّ. وفي سياق الحكاية تُبرز هذه الموهبة العجيبة إساءةً مقلقة لاستعمال القوة: قلب الموت بأمرٍ لا لِدَهرما ولا لرحمة، بل استعراضًا للسيطرة، مما يزعزع النظام الأخلاقي الذي يحرسه ياما.
