घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse teaches that sincere performance of prescribed rites in a sanctified place—especially one associated with great sages—yields extraordinary religious merit, comparable to major Vedic sacrifices, underscoring the ethical value of disciplined observance and reverence for holy sites and saintly presence.
The speaker is describing the spiritual efficacy of a particular sacred location: upon reaching Devakūṭa, a place honored by Brahmarṣis, performing an abhiṣeka there is said to grant the fruit of the eminent Vājapeya sacrifice.
