Nala’s Disrobing and Damayantī’s Companionship
evam ukte tu kalinā pratyūcus te divaukasaḥ | asmābhiḥ samanujñāte damayantyā nalo vṛtaḥ ||

Dharma is upheld when personal choice is exercised with clarity and is recognized within a legitimate moral and social framework; even when disruptive forces (like Kali) protest, rightful consent and truth establish the integrity of the act.
After Kali speaks, the gods respond that Damayantī has chosen Nala with their acknowledged consent, confirming the outcome of the svayaṃvara and setting the stage for Kali’s hostility toward Nala.
