Bhīmasena’s Discourse on Kāla, Resolve, and the Feasibility of Ajñātavāsa (भीमसेनस्य कालोपदेशः)
sumantrite suvikrānte sukṛte suvicārite | sidhyanty arthā mahābāho daivaṃ cātra pradakṣiṇam ||
Success is most reliably achieved when one combines sound counsel, careful deliberation, and energetic execution; then even what is called ‘fate’ tends to align with one’s efforts. The verse emphasizes responsible agency rather than passive reliance on destiny.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a heroic interlocutor (“mahābāho”), offering a principle of wise action: plan well, think through the matter, and act decisively. He frames favorable outcomes as arising from disciplined human effort, with providence becoming supportive in such circumstances.
