वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical necessity of restraint and prudence in the face of overwhelming martial power: when force is irresistible, dharma favors avoiding needless confrontation and preventing violence from escalating into destruction.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana emphasizes the terrifying lethality of arrows shot from the Gāṇḍīva, describing them as vulture-feathered and serpent-like in venomous dread, to convey that no ordinary human can withstand their strike.
