ननु त्वया महाबाहो प्रतिज्ञातं वृकोदर
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca | nanu tvayā mahābāho pratijñātaṃ vṛkodara, dharmaputro mahābāhur vilalāpa suvistaram |
قال فايشَمبايانا: «يا فْرِكودارا عظيمَ الساعدين، أما كنتَ قد قطعتَ ذلك النذرَ الجليل؟» وهكذا أخذَ دهرمابوترا (يودهيشثيرا) عظيمُ الساعدين ينوحُ نواحًا طويلًا. إذ رأى إخوته صرعى، ورأى عهودَ المحارب كأنها قد صارت هباءً، غمره الحزنُ والقلق؛ وانصرفت كلماته إلى الثقلِ الأخلاقي للوعود التي تُقال نصرةً للدارما وصونًا لشرفِ السلالة.
