वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the tension between intrinsic merit and socially assigned identity: a person of great valor may still be labeled by birth or circumstance, and public fame often follows names and categories rather than inner worth.
The narrator states that the extraordinarily powerful boy came to be accepted as a sūta’s son and became widely known by the names Vasuṣeṇa and Vṛṣa.
