ततः संवत्सरे पूर्णो यदासौ जपतां वर: । नापश्यद् दुष्कृतं किंचित् पृथाया: सौहृदे रत:
tataḥ saṃvatsare pūrṇe yadāsau japatāṃ varaḥ | nāpaśyad duṣkṛtaṃ kiṃcit pṛthāyāḥ sauhṛde rataḥ ||
ثم لما انقضت سنةٌ كاملة، ذلك المتقدّم بين أهل التلاوة والابتهال—وقد انصرف قلبه إلى المودّة وحسن النيّة نحو پṛthā (كونتي)—لم يجد فيها أدنى زلّة ولا أقلّ سوء فعل.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Sustained goodwill (sauhṛda) and ethical scrutiny over time reveal true character: after prolonged observation, no fault is found in Pṛthā, highlighting the Mahābhārata’s emphasis on inner virtue and steadfast righteousness.
Vaiśaṃpāyana reports that after a full year, an eminent practitioner of japa—disposed toward Pṛthā with friendly intent—examines her conduct and finds no wrongdoing whatsoever.
