Shloka 101
पुरा मातुः पितुर्वापि यदि पश्यामि विप्रियम् । न जीविष्ये वरारोहे सत्येनात्मानमालभे,वरारोहे! मैं सत्यकी शपथ खाकर अपना शरीर छूकर कहता हूँ, यदि मैं माता अथवा पिताका अप्रिय देखूँगा तो जीवित नहीं रहूँगा
purā mātuḥ pitur vāpi yadi paśyāmi vipriyam | na jīviṣye varārohe satyenātmānam ālabhe ||
قال ماركانديّا: «قديماً، يا ذاتَ العجيزةِ الحسناء، أقسمتُ بالحقّ، ولمستُ جسدي شاهداً: ‘إن أنا رأيتُ يوماً ما يسوءُ أُمّي أو أبي فلن أستمرّ في الحياة.’»
